The historical Monastery of Aghios Georgios is located near the borders of Greece in the area called Tsamantas at the settlement of Kamitsiani, 32 klms far from Filiates.

The year of its foundation is unknown, however it was reinstated in the 18th century(1758-1773) by the priest-monk Paesios, over the ruins of the old building.

Today, only a part of the monastery is still standing but it continues to operate as a temple for the locals.
